Julie Tomlinson, MSW, SEII, RYT created Soul Path Somatics out of a yearning for holistic practices that are rooted in embodiment and connection while honoring the inherent wisdom of each Soul. After fifteen years providing counseling in clinical settings, profound burnout became a catalyst for a new path. Julie embarked on experiential studies of mindfulness meditation, yoga therapy, family constellations, and nature-based rituals. Discovering Somatic Experiencing® marked a pivotal shift in her understanding of the limitations of traditional talk therapy to resolve trauma. Somatic Experiencing® reveals how survival patterns are embedded in the nervous system and become self-reinforcing. By working directly with the body’s physiology, facilitating the completion of defensive responses and creating space for the loosening of trauma energy, the body’s resilience is gradually restored. With Julie’s diverse training and lived experience, she offers empowering methods to release painful patterns, reclaim vitality and live more vibrantly.
Soul Path Somatics is offered from Julie’s heartfelt commitment to make life-changing, body-based work more accessible. Sessions are offered online worldwide from the beautiful mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. Julie expertly weaves relational, attachment, and nature-based approaches into somatic methods. Drawing on both professional training and a lived recovery path, Julie has been described as deeply grounding, soulful, and intuitive. She holds an earnest respect for each Soul’s intelligence and their capacity to restore natural creativity, balance, and brilliance.
Julie specializes in working with adults navigating the effects of trauma, anxiety, attachment wounds, professional burnout, addiction, depression, and grief. She has a Master’s of Social Work, and has completed several trainings including trauma-informed yoga therapy studies, applied polyvagal/nervous system theory and family constellation work. She is currently in the final year of the three year Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner program. Her personal journey has been enriched by the blessing of sitting in ceremony with elders in the Peruvian Andes and participating in multi-generational, Earth-based rites of passage in Appalachia. Most recently, she had the honor to serve as an assistant practitioner for Sacred Restoration, a five day Somatic Experiencing® trauma healing retreat.
