Julie Tomlinson, MSW, SEII, RYT created Soul Path Somatics out of a deep yearning for healing practices that are rooted in embodiment, connection, and honors the natural wisdom of each Soul. After fifteen years providing counseling in clinical settings, profound burnout became a catalyst for a new path. Following intuition, Julie embarked on experiential studies of mindfulness meditation, yoga therapy, family constellations, and nature-based ritual practices. Discovering Somatic Experiencing® marked a pivotal shift in understanding the limitations of traditional talk therapy to resolve trauma. Somatic Experiencing® reveals how trauma patterns are embedded in the nervous system and become self-reinforcing. By working directly with the body’s physiology, the completion of defensive responses and release of trapped trauma energy is facilitated to restore the body’s resilience. Weaving somatic practices into a clinical mental health background, Julie offers empowering methods to release painful patterns, reclaim vitality and live more vibrantly in the body home.

Soul Path Somatics is offered from a heartfelt commitment to bring this life-changing work to others. Sessions are offered online worldwide from the beautiful mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. Julie expertly integrates holistic, relational and nature-based approaches into somatic methods to resolve trauma. Drawing on both professional training and lived recovery experience, her work is grounded and intuitive, centered in the restoration of connection to the sacred Self and Mother Earth. She holds an earnest respect for each Soul’s intelligence and their capacity to restore their natural creativity, balance, and brilliance.

Julie specializes in working with adults navigating the effects of trauma, anxiety, attachment wounds, professional burnout, addiction, depression, and grief. She has a Master’s of Social Work, and has completed several trainings in trauma-informed yoga therapy, applied polyvagal theory and family constellation work. She is currently finishing the second year of the three year Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner program. Her journey has been enriched by the blessing of sitting in ceremony with elders in the Peruvian Andes and participating in multigenerational, Earth-based rites of passage in deep Appalachia. Most recently, she had the honor to serve as an assistant practitioner for Sacred Restoration, a five day Somatic Experiencing® trauma healing retreat.
